I think 3d printers dont actually care about gravity that much, people have run them upside down. Bed leveling setting the orientation relative to the movement of the hotend.
Some people have completely fixed beds(because then the bed cant wobble), you dont need to recalibrate that often. The only thing i recalibrate sometimes is the orientation on the two driving z-rods. (either interference or missing steps makes one of the them move more..)
